Cosmo Jayanti
I promised myself I wouldn't become one of those dog owners who won't stop barking on about their dog. Anyway, here's my second blog post about my dog.
His name is Cosmo. I've had him for a couple of years now, and last year I decided that every year on his birthday I'd write something here and post some pictures. Cosmo will (probably) never read these. He can't read. He also can't be trusted alone with a sandwich. But I like the idea of this blog living on as a little annual celebration of him.
Cosmo turned 2 on the 2nd of October, which happens to be Gandhi Jayanti, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. It's a public holiday in India, and having grown up there, I find this hard to ignore. The similarities between the two mostly end at the birthday. Gandhi was famous for his patience and his fasting. Cosmo has neither. Put food anywhere within a two-metre radius and all non-violent principles go out the window. But he tries. Sometimes.
For his birthday I got him a little cake, a lot of toys and an irresponsible number of treats. I have no idea if he knew it was his birthday, or that he's now 2. To him it was probably just a very good Friday. Frankly, that's fine. I know, and I still can't believe he's already 2. He's been an absolute joy to have around, chewed belongings aside.
I'd always wanted a dog, but I spent years talking myself out of it because it never felt like the right time. Turns out it's never the right time. But it's also always the right time to get a dog, if you can.
So if you're like me and still winning the argument against yourself, lose it. Get the dog.
See you next year, Cosmo. Happy birthday.
PS - Here's the first post I wrote about Cosmo. And enjoy the birthday pics below.
